Block No. 5: Exhibition: Evidence of Crimes Against Humanity

Suitcases bearing the names of Jews deported to the camp.

This block contains some of the original objects belonging to the victims of Auschwitz. Discovered after liberation, they include fringed garments, eyeglasses, suitcases marked with the names and addresses of the victims, shoes, prostheses, children's clothing, bowls, and so on. This is what remains of the property of the Jews who were murdered. The camp authorities did not manage to send everything into the depths of the Third Reich, or to destroy it all, before liberation.
