The quarantine camp (Quarantänelager), for Jewish and non-Jewish men deported from various countries, was located here from August 1943 until November 1944. The purpose of quarantine was to terrorize newly arrived prisoners, to accustom them to the camp regime and unquestioning obedience, and to identify persons suspected of contagious disease. Sick male and female prisoners brought from other parts of the camp were placed in some of these barracks from April 1944 to November 1944.
